Visit from Grandpa

My dad came to visit this past weekend since he got a 3-day weekend. We had a blast!

He came in on Friday and since it was such a pretty day we played outside, went to the park to feed the ducks, and walked down to the river to throw/collect rocks. That night we went to the Boy Scout spaghetti dinner.

We also made Sarah model all of her new clothes, just like I had to as a kid.

Saturday, David was really sick and had worked all night so we left him home to sleep while my dad and I took the kids to the LA Zoo. We had so much fun and discovered parts of the zoo we didn't see last time. We came home around dinner time and ordered take-out from Rosa's...mmm...calzone!
There was a guy who found a long stick and put a few leaves on the end of it and "fished" for the giraffe. He got him to bite! It was awesome! The giraffe came right up to the fence! Sunday, after church, we stayed home and hung out the rest of the day. I can't remember the last time we stayed home all day on a Sunday, it was weird, yet relaxing. David cooked up some delicious street tacos for dinner.

Monday, we went to Carpinteria and played on the beach. We stopped at a kite store in Ventura on the way over to buy Sarah her own little kite. She did so well with it! It looks like a ladybug and she loves it! We walked down to the tide pools and looked around for a while. David and Sarah saw a starfish. We played catch with our new foxtail ball. We played at the park by the beach. We ate at The Palms and David cooked up some mean steaks and garlic bread! To top it all off, we stopped at the new Dewar's on the way back home! Perfect day!The marina in Ventura...we will have to make a day out of exploring this place sometime...it looked nice. This was just before he stepped in that big puddle...lol.Sarah loved collecting rocks.David found a big shell with something alive inside!Sarah had a Shirley Temple...she loved it!
Dad left today before we woke up. We actually all stayed in bed until 10! I guess we needed to recoup from our busy weekend. Thanks for coming, Dad!
