Soccer

Sarah also started soccer last Saturday.  We decided to put her in lots of activities at a young age to find out what she really enjoys or what she has natural talent in.  This way, no matter what she ends up specializing in athletics-wise, she started as early as possible.  We figure she will be at least 6'3'' so why not teach her to use her body.  Basketball was such a blessing to me in high school, even though I wasn't very good, it gave me a reason to enjoy my height.  Anyway, here is Sarah in her adorable soccer uniform, all sweaty after her first game.  (She had just taken the clip out of her hair which explains her crazy bangs.) She was super nervous at first and wouldn't do anything without me pretty much doing it for her, but she slowly warmed up and started listening to her coach.  But I did have to run with her the whole game; she didn't want me to leave her side.  She is fast and would stay right with the ball, but is afraid to kick it.  We are going to have to work on kicking a ball around the backyard before her next game.  The way it works with AYSO at her age is that all the little girls her age meet at 10:30 every Saturday and are assigned to a different field/team each week.  They have a 20 min practice, a snack break, and then a 20 minute game.  David took Sarah to Big 5 to buy her gear and this is what they came back with.  Too cute!
