Mailbox Makeover

The planter around our mailbox was looking pretty bad.  I didn't have a before picture, but I stole this one from a Google search to give you an idea of what it looked like. It was pretty much dead weeds...   Well, here is what David did while I was away a couple nights ago... He scooped out all the weeds and some extra dirt and filled it back in with rocks.  Then he planted a blueberry plant on the back side of it and a bird of paradise on the other side of it.  He left the side closest to the driveway empty due to the fact that many of our friends tend to back out of our driveway and run that part over and kill anything we plant there. Oh, well.Doesn't it look much better?!
 It looks so good that after strawberry season is over, we're going to gut this flowerbed too and do the same thing.  We have a huge weed problem so the landscape fabric and rocks will hopefully help.   
 And since I was out taking pictures of the yard, here are a few more just to document our yard.{We have two new calla lilies to plant here that my mom gave me for Easter.} These may have to come out at some point because they are knocking over the wall into the neighbors yard. I ♥ our big palm tree! ♥I am thankful for a husband who enjoys a nice yard and likes to work on it and knows how to do just about everything, because I sure don't!
